Non-Surgical Root Canal

Keeping our teeth as healthy as possible is important for our overall health, but it is not always the easiest task. Sometimes, despite our best effort, our teeth end up with damage or infection and the only course of action is a dental procedure to clear out the bacteria and debris and seal your tooth back up. One of the most common of these procedures is the root canal, a process that involves cleaning the roots of your teeth and removing any infection that lingers there. If you want to know whether or not you are in pain because of a possible root canal infection, please visit our office at Henricksen Family Dental - our professionals will take a look at your dental issues and talk with you about the best way to move forward.

What is a root canal?

Root canals have had a bad name for a long time and are generally perceived as an invasive procedure that tends to be painful. Root canals used to deserve this concern as, traditionally, they were not the most pleasant of dental procedures. Designed to cleanse the root of your teeth of infection, a root canal consists of taking the infected pulp out of your tooth’s canal, disinfecting and cleaning its interior, and then filling and sealing it. This is still the process today, however, it has evolved into something significantly less invasive thanks to modern technology.

A root canal is not something to be afraid of but rather embraced. The procedure won't cause a lot of discomfort but rather a lot of relief.

Prevent the Spread of Infection

When a root canal procedure is performed effectively, not only does it help to clean out the nerve and take out all of the infection, but it also curbs the spread of infection to neighboring teeth. This is vital because when an infection starts to spread, it can risk the health of your entire mouth. It can also become difficult to control the infection when there is no way to see how far it has gone. When situations like this arise, you might need to come to us multiple times so we can be sure we have the infection under control.

The good news is that root canals can help address these issues before they turn into massive problems. While it might not sound like an appealing process, a root canal is a great way to make sure all infection is removed and that the rest of your mouth is safe from its bacteria. Having the procedure performed as soon as possible can also help prevent as much bone loss and gum infection as possible, leaving your oral health in better shape than it could be.

If you are looking for a minimally invasive root canal procedure that will keep you comfortable then please give us a call at (360) 740-2119 or visit our office at Henricksen Family Dental.
